should you switch from manual to electric pressure cooker?

The Pinto Post | Reviews - should you switch from manual to electric pressure cooker?: Making a switch from my traditional manual cooker to the trendy instant/ electric cooker (Tefal CY505E40) has been a big leap of faith, lets find out if it was worth it?

As an Indian I use the pressure cooker to prepare several recipes often, I have been using my manual pressure cooker for over a decade and decided to buy an electric cooker recently. Believe me, when I say that it took me over two months of research, and contemplation to decide which one to go for, I was torn between the well-known instant pot and the Tefal multicooker. After several weeks of 'ifs' and 'but' I decided to go for the Tefal cooker. I purchased this cooker in June 2020 and have been using it at least a minimum of 2 times a week. I purchased my electric cooker from Amazon for £59 while on sale.

The cooker comes with a user manual and a very good recipe book that became handy to me as a first time user. It also comes with a steam basket, trivet, measuring cup, and spatula, all of which are dishwasher safe. As a first time user, I can safely say that the pressure cooker was easy to use and safe. The first time I used it to make myself a portion of rice, I washed the rice and added the appropriate amount of water to the cooker, I then closed the lid and the pressure release valve. I pressed the rice button on the cooker which added 9 minutes of cooking time, once the pressure builds, the countdown to 9 minutes begins, when done the cooker beeps twice to let you know the food is ready. You can either wait for the pressure to be released or press the pressure valve button to release the pressure. There are other function buttons on the pressure cooker these include pressure cooking on (low/medium/high), slow cook (up to 9 hours), steam, brown, simmer, reheat and bake. It also has specific recipe functions for rice, porridge, baby food, or stew/soup. The DIY Chef mode lets you adjust the cooking time and temperature manually to create your own recipe.

Since I was also looking into buying a steamer and slow cooker, this multicooker saved me from spending extra. I am quite happy with the cooker and for argument sake, if I had to pick a negative point it would be that the cooker is quite large and you need to have enough room in your kitchen to place this on the counter. One of the best lazy girls hacks for me is to put all my veggies and rice in the cooker at once and cook for 10minutes and there I have my veggie pulao. I have also cooked biryani's several times in the cooker in under 30minutes (Recipe on my blog). The reason I picked this cooker is that the accessories are easily available in the UK. Whenever you decide to buy a cooker, always do your research well, compare the prices, reviews, and check which company offers the spare parts or accessories easily.

Switching from the traditional pressure cooker to the trending electric cookers is a big YES for me. It definitely saves time, mess-free, and adds to your kitchenware. Please note, my review is 100% honest and not sponsored by Tefal or amazon. Keep an eye out for new pressure cooker recipes on my blog.
