Pancake Maker

The Pinto Post | Reviews - Pancake Maker: Looking for a decent pancake or crepe maker? I have tried and tested this Quest Pancake maker and here are my thoughts.

A few months ago I was in search of an electric pan to cook crepes and roti's and where else than the mighty amazon to my rescue. After spending a couple of days researching I purchased the Quest Traditional pancake maker 12'' for £20. It arrived in two days, well packed and in great condition. It comes with a wooden spreader to use for crepes and a manual. I wiped the pan with a damp cloth. It has a small knob-like thermostat to adjust the temperature, max med, and min. Since I was very eager to give it a try I used it the first time to make myself an omelet. I set the temperature at high and added the whisked eggs. One of the pro's to this pan is the raised edges that prevent spillage. The omelet cooked in about 7-9mins completely. I didn't notice any change in taste or smell. The pan heated fast and effectively but takes about 5minutes to completely cool down. I had to test it to make roti's as that was its sole purpose to purchase. I set the pan to max again and placed a freshly rolled out roti. I was a bit disappointed to notice that it took me 5 mins to cook one side of the roti and another 5 for the other side, while on a hot Tawa on the stove it cooks in under 2mins.

Hence, I would not recommend this pan for roti's, but it is excellent for preparing pancakes (I have tried banana, chocolate, souffle) and omelets. I also tried roasting a couple of beetroot cutlets on it which took about 10-12mins for 6 cutlets. Once done I cleaned the pan using a damp cloth and it cleaned fairly well. Overall, It is an excellent pan for someone who regularly prepares pancakes for a big family. Its lightweight and hence can be easily transported. It can also be stored vertically which prevents it from taking up too much space in my kitchen. For the given price it is a fairly good product. Please note, this is my 100% honest review, I have purchased this product and it is not a sponsored post.
