Russell Hobbs 25960 Go Create Jug Blender
I am a kitchen gadget/blender freak, don't judge me. I love smoothies, lassi's, hummus, etc which all require a strong and good blender. Now I am a fan of my Nutri bullet 600w but lately have been cooking a lot of Indian masala's. And I didn't want to use the same jar for the smoothies hence this purchase. After carefully looking and choosing between a lot of cheap blenders I chose this Jug blender because-
- Definitely cheaper than the other high-end models, I purchased this one for £19.99 from Argos
- Lightweight, Because this model has a plastic jug but I am guessing the glass jug is certainly heavier.
- Easy to store
- And Lastly, surprisingly great reviews.
I purchased this blender about 3 months ago, but I have used it about 6 times, sadly all failed attempts. I did give it a fair chance before posting this review. The first time I used the blender was to make hummus, I added about 1 cup of cooked chickpeas, lemon juice, tahini, and olive oil as per the recipe but the chickpeas did not bulge, I had to add about 3/4th cup of olive oil plus water to get the chickpeas moving, which unfortunately made it a liquid hummus. I'm guessing this blender is good for only liquid blending.
Another recipe I tried in the blender is a coriander chutney, but even with sufficient liquid, there was no movement, (as shown in the image above). Similarly, I did blend some oats for oats flour, It powdered the oats unevenly. As you can see only the ingredients near or around the blade have blended.
Since the blender cannot blend ice or frozen fruits for smoothies, I would suggest that one should only invest in this blender if you blend liquidy recipes regularly, for example, soups. I must also mention the blender is quite noisy.
Overall, I would suggest that it's better to invest in an expensive but good blender, which is something I need to do!
