Melt in the Mouth Pork Belly with Soy Sauce
This is the ultimate hassle-free pork belly recipe. I consume red meat only once a week, and when I do it has to be my special pork belly recipe. Not only because it is easy to make, but also because it just melts in your mouth. The fat is not at all rubbery, just very gelatinous. I use the same method and ingredients for chicken and it turns out great. (Image below)
All you need,
- 1 kg fresh pork belly
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
- 1 tbsp vinegar (Preferably rice)
- 1/4 cup cooking wine
- 1/2 tsp oil
- 3 cups of water for cooking
In a boiling pot of water, add the big pieces of washed pork belly. Let it cook for 10 minutes. Once cooled, cut the pork belly into small pieces (as shown in the image). In a wok, add the oil, once hot add the sugar and stir for 30 sec. Then add the wine and vinegar. Stir everything well to prevent the sugar from crystallizing. Add the pork belly pieces, ginger garlic paste, mix everything well. Lastly, add the soy sauce and water. Close the lid and let it simmer on medium heat for 45-55 minutes. Once all the liquid has been absorbed, it is ready to be served. I serve it along with some rice or chili garlic noodles. Yummy!
