Sago Pudding / Sabudana Kheer

The Pinto Post | Recipes - Sago Pudding / Sabudana Kheer: An easy dessert with minimum ingredients! My husbands all time FAV.

Sago Kheer is an absolute treat! It's creamy and rich,

All you need is...

  • 150gms Sabudana or Sago
  • 1 liter Milk
  • 200ml Water
  • 1 pinch of grounded Cardamom powder
  • 200 gms Jaggery
  • 1 tbsp Ghee
  • A handful mix of Cashew nuts. Raisins and Almonds.

Start by soaking sago pearls in water for 2 hours. In a pan add the ghee and nuts and roast until golden on medium flame. In a separate saucepan add the milk and let it boil, then add the soaked sago and cook for about 10-12mins on medium flame and let cool. Add the cardamom powder and cook for another 10mins. In another pan add the water and jaggery and cook until it completely melted, strain the syrup to remove any impurities. Add this syrup to the cooled sago milk and stir until mixed completely. Lastly, add the roasted nuts and stir well. The kheer can be consumed warm or cold but personally, it tastes best warm. ENJOY!
